Destiny 2's Lightfall expansion launches in 2023, and a new leak seemingly confirms whether it will add the much requested new enemy race or not.

The Destiny 2 community is brimming with excitement as the game's next season, season 18, draws near. On top of that, we have the annual Destiny 2 showcase on 23rd August 2022, which might finally reveal the highly anticipated expansion - Lightfall.

As always, the Destiny 2 community has been actively speculating what the Lightfall expansion might have in store for the game. The Witch Queen expansion was well received by the fans, something that has raised the stakes for the Lightfall expansion even higher.

One of the most frequently asked questions within the Destiny community before the launch of every new expansion is whether it will add a brand-new race to the game. While Bungie hasn't confirmed or denied the same for the Lightfall, a new leak might have confirmed the inevitable.

No new enemy race in Destiny 2 Lightfall, according to a leaker

Just like the Beyond Light and The Witch Queen expansion, the upcoming Lightfall expansion might not also add a new enemy race to Destiny 2.

The above information comes from a notable leaker, Destiny leaks, who posted the following on Twitter -

There is no evidence to back up their statement, so fans should take this with a huge grain of salt. Either way, a new race in Lightfall seems too far-fetched, especially since this expansion will probably be about tying loose ends.

The Destiny universe currently has four enemy races. They are Cabal, Hive, Fallen, and Vex. Sure, every expansion adds new sub-races or more advanced variants of existing races, but we haven't really gotten an entirely new one so far.

Furthermore, there have been rumors about anew subclass coming to Destiny 2 soon, possibly with the Lightfall expansion. Coincidentally, Destiny Leaks were the first to make the leaked info public just a few days ago.

If Bungie is really bringing a new subclass to Destiny 2 with Lightfall, it wouldn't make sense for it to also add a new enemy race. Things would have been different if we were talking about a Destiny 3, but that is not the case.

Either way, the upcoming Destiny 2 showcase should put these wild rumors to rest for the time being.
